Christina Mesiti, Immigration Office Oil on panel, 9.5 x 8 inches, 2011

Mesiti and McBride use abstract painting as a way of understanding the unstable nature of the world we live in. They are committed to using abstraction as a way to explore subjective responses to events and experiences. Mesiti uses abstraction to investigate the role of the mind and memory in how we understand places and lived experiences. McBride uses forms inspired by the visual culture of the everyday to interpret and make personal otherwise impersonal events.
